OK, a dear friend sent me this article, and I think its pretty great. Some of these have floored me, some I honestly haven't experienced.
14 THINGS PEOPLE DONT TELL YOU ABOUT DIVORCE
These all tend to creep in and out of your life at the most random moments. I think Id also add a few more things:
15. You will lose a lot of friends. Some people will feel a need to choose sides (whether you make them feel that way or whether you do everything to prevent them from feeling that way). Some people will just not have the time or energy to deal with the drama and turmoil the divorce will bring to your life (nothing against them!). And well, some people, they just arent capable of being true friends to you. This is going to hurt, but weeding out the good from the bad will be a good thing in the long run.
16. You will gain new friends. Some people that you didnt think would be the ones to be there for you in your darkest time will shine brighter then ever and you will realize you have some amazing people in your life. This makes the pain of losing all the other friends much more bearable.
17. People will voice unnecessary opinions and judge you. I have a dear friend who started this journey before me and she used to say he felt like he was wearing the scarlet letter, it is true. The reality is some of those people are jerks, not all of them. Some have no idea and make assumptions, and quite frankly, they dont need to know your business. Then some people just dont know how to respond (if your reading this and you know someone in it, SHOW THEM LOVE!!! Unconditional, big, warm your heart up LOVE!). They dont mean to make you feel that way, but they are lost as how to react to it. Maybe they are hurt by it too even.
If you are in this stage too.....feel free to comment and add any additional points!
